I’m Eng. Harkamal Preet Pal Singh Ubhi — a passionate smart automation engineer and bestselling author. My journey started with a spark for sustainable energy and evolved into a mission to revolutionize how we live and interact with technology.
My Journey in Sustainable Automation
It all began in college, where circuits and code fueled a deep desire to harness nature’s power. Researching solar and wind efficiency, I envisioned a cleaner, sustainable future. My embedded systems projects weren’t just academic—they were the seeds of a greater mission.
After graduation, I dove into facility management and the solar industry, where I witnessed firsthand the urgent need for energy efficiency. It was in the lighting industry, however, where I found my true calling—illuminating not just spaces but lives.
I immersed myself in smart home automation, beginning with dimming solutions and quickly expanding my skill set to include:

Smart Home Journey with Home Assistant
My first step into home automation began with an Amazon Echo and Philips Hue. Voice control was exciting, but limited.
Then I discovered Home Assistant — a platform that changed everything for me. Despite the steep learning curve, my background in software helped me build powerful, flexible automations.
